Lighthouse on rocks, sunset

Portland Head Lighthouse in Maine

A few months ago, I decided it was time to self-publish my Medieval Romance, Dagger’s Destiny. In order to do that, I’ve spent most of my free-time learning about self-publishing and getting my social media up and running.

During this period, I’ve neglected my husband terribly. It’s so easy to get caught up pursuing a goal that you forget how it affects the people around you. Once I realized what I was doing, I quickly made reservations for a long weekend in Ogunquit, Maine. It’s one of our favorite places to go.

If you’ve never travelled the coast of Maine, you’re missing out on some breathtaking scenery.

We were lucky enough to have had beautiful weather for our mini-excursion. We wandered around Perkin’s Cove, a quaint shopping and fishing village nestled on a peninsula jutting out into the endless blue water. We walked the Marginal Way, which is a mile long walk hugging the coastline and inhaled the fresh salt air. We sang show-tunes at a colorful piano bar. We drove up to Portland, Maine and took a ferry boat ride out onto Casco Bay, where we stopped at various islands to drop off and pick up travelers. We had the pleasure of catching a glimpse of a set of porpoises skimming the water alongside our boat, on their way to who knows where.

Needless to say, I didn’t get much work done, but the time spent with my husband, enjoying each other’s company, was well-worth the delay in pursuing my goals.

Sometimes, we just have to live our lives, and not let the moment pass us by. I know my husband is happy we did!

May you all take the time to experience those little moments that fulfill your life.
